New Orleans — The tension in the air was so thick inside the Glazer Family suite at Yulman Stadium Monday… you know where I’m going with this.
The Tulane baseball team and supporters were gathered to watch the NCAA Selection Show and knew the Tulane Green Wave (34-23) had done everything they could to get in.
But feeling good about their chances and hearing their name called elicited two different reactions. The first one being of somber optimism while the second, pure elation and an emotionally charged outburst that lifted everyone in attendance to their feet.
“This is why I came to Tulane, this is the reason,” said Stephon Alemais, Sophmore infielder for the Green Wave.
The Green Wave was selected to play UNC-Wilmington (39-16) in the first round of the NCAA regionals. The game will be played at 7pm CST on Friday at Alex Box Stadium. Tulane defeated the Seahawks 8-4 on Mar. 31 in Wilmington.
